Twenty twenty has been an eventful year. A year for the ages. A year we will remember for a long time. A year that will be remembered long after our time. The year of the pandemic. Covid. Coranavirus. Bats in Wuhan. The virus ignored and dismissed suddenly became real and closed in. Friends and family got sick. Some serious, some died. Lockdowns and Social Distancing. Working from home and remote learning. Zoom. Zoom meetings. Zoom prayers. Zoom classes. Zoom theatre and Zoom affairs. Oh, Jeffrey Toobin. Lysol. Hand gel. Toilet paper. For many, adjusting to loneliness, unemployment and hunger. Some thriving in laziness. For some working on the front lines in hospitals and nursing homes, sickness and stress and fear and a never ending search for PPE. Dr. Fauci. A hero. A villain. A scientist. Science. Accepting it, questioning it, denying it. Masks and liberty. Black Lives Matter and the craziness of Trump. Conspiracy theories. 5G and China’s bioweapon. Bill Gates. Guiliani’s meltdown. His scalp leaking dye, his shirt needing tucking. Dead voters. Double voters. Mail in ballots. Stuffed ballots. Dominion and Smartmatic. Restaurants closing and online orders soaring. Sports played in empty stadiums with simulated audience noise and athletes in bubbles. Theaters shutting down. Movie releases on hold. Actors on TikTok. TikTok makeup. TikTok dance. TikTok and security. Security breaches. SolarWinds. Russian hacks and Chinese hacks. Chinese robots on the moon. SpaceX and its Crew Dragon launch. Straining to watch the NEOWISE comet and tracking the Jupiter and Saturn conjunction. Star gazing. We indulged in our hobbies. Drawing, writing, cooking, painting, singing, learning to play the guitar, the sitar, the tabla, knitting and fishing and poetry. Sour dough starters that started for many but finished for few. The year is almost done. As we hope is Trumpism. The normalcy of inaction and the hypocrisy of politics as usual will be a welcome relief. The vaccine holds promise. Prem Jyotish says the stars are aligned favorably for twenty twenty one. The Jyotish’s latest post reads, Mercury is the ruling planet of Virgo whose corresponding gemstone is Emerald. Emerald represents communication, written and verbal clarity, business contracts, humor, and travel. Call now to determine which gemstones are right for you. Oh, Prem, yes, I will call, but first let me wish all my family and friends a very happy and healthy and exceptionally mundane new year.
